List of DxO Presets

The table below lists the presets available in DxO Optics Pro. Each automatic setting is illustrated by paired photographs that demonstrate its effects.

Name	What it does		Example
DxO default v2	Description :	Standard processing with colors as rendered by your camera (factory settings for RAW). Processing includes DxO Lighting and denoising, together with optical corrections if the DxO correction module is present (distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, lens softness, and fine detail enhancement).
	Recommendation :	Appropriate for most of your photos if you are happy with your camera’s default color rendering (which usually delivers rather saturated colors).
	Type :	Global.
DxO default v2 - Neutral colors (RAW only)	Description :	Perfomrs the same corrections as the 'DxO default v2" Preset, but offers more neutral color rendering.
	Recommendation :	Appropriate for most of your photos if you shoot in RAW and prefer more accurate color rendering than provided by your camera’s default settings.
	Type :	Global.
DxO default - Original (v1)	Description :	Former default Preset (until v6.1.2). Performs the same corrections as "DxO default v2" Preset, but without fine detail enhancement and without dead pixel correction.
	Recommendation :	Appropriate for most of your photos if you are happy with your camera’s default color rendering (which usually delivers rather saturated colors).
	Type :	Global.
General - Old postcard	Description :	A "creative" preset that lets you reproduce the faded colors of an old-style postcard.
	Recommendation :	Suits all photos.
	Type :	Partial, affects color and lighting only.
General - Black and white	Description :	Offers a black and white rendition that adapts to image content to produce optimal contrast.
	Recommendation :	Suits all photos.
	Type :	Partial, affects only color.
General - Negative colors	Description :	A "creative" preset that lets you invert the colors in a photo to produce a "film negative" look.
	Recommendation :	Suits all photos.
	Type :	Partial, affects only lighting.
General - Vivid colors	Description :	Allows you to produce vivid colors and accentuated contrast.	Photo: Stephane Laveau
	Recommendation :	Suitable for landscape, still-life, architectural, and nature photography when you prefer high contrast and saturated colors.
	Type :	Partial, affects color and lighting only.
Landscape - Lowkey	Description :	Allows you to reduce general exposure level while increasing overall contrast.
	Recommendation :	Suits urban landscapes, industrial buildings, and nature photos with a "tortured" aspect.
	Type :	Partial, affects color and lighting only.
Landscape - Highkey	Description :	Increases exposure and influences image contrast to obtain a "highkey" effect.

Realistic color variation 2 (RAW only)	Description :	Offers natural colors with medium contrast.
	Recommendation :	Suitable for all RAW photos.

Highlight recovery - Slight (RAW only)	Description :	Lets you recover details within burnt-out areas and keep overall contrast well balanced.
	Recommendation :	Suits scenes with a very large dynamic range and burnt-out areas in parts of the image with important detail (cloudy skies, snowy fields, a lacy wedding dress, candles, open fires, etc.).
	Type :	Partial, affects color and lighting only.
Highlight recovery - Medium (RAW only)	Description :	Lets you recover a lot of detail within burnt-out areas, while keeping the overall contrast well balanced.
	Recommendation :	Suits scenes with a very large dynamic range and burnt-out areas in parts of the image with important detail (cloudy skies, snowy fields, a lacy wedding dress, candles, open fires, etc.).
	Type :	Partial, affects color and lighting only.
Highlight recovery - Strong (RAW only)	Description :	Lets you recover all available detail within burnt-out areas and keep overall contrast well balanced.
	Recommendation :	Suits scenes with a very large dynamic range and burnt-out areas in parts of the image with important detail (cloudy skies, snowy fields, a lacy wedding dress, candles, open fires, etc.).
	Type :	Partial, affects color and lighting only.
High ISO - Noise reduction	Description :	Allows you to obtain the best trade-off between denoising, detail sharpness, and deep shadows.
	Recommendation :	Suits photos shot in low light or using high speed, or both, e.g. photos taken at night or indoors without flash.
	Type :	Partial, affects lighting and detail only.
Keep fine grain noise (RAW only)	Description :	Allows you to preserve fine grain.	Photo: Jean-marie Sépulchre
	Recommendation :	Suitable for images shot in RAW at high ISO.
	Type :	Partial, affects only detail.
Sharpen fine details	Description :	Allows you to increase sharpness of all image details.
	Recommendation :	Suits all photos.

Color anti-aliasing (RAW only)	Description :	Allows you to eliminate moiré (spurious color fringing or patterning visible in objects with repetitive detail structures).	Photo: John Walker
	Recommendation :	Suits shots of clothing with regular patterns, other objects with very fine, regular structures, and photos of hair, fur, or feathers.

Maximize field of view	Description :	Allows you to recover information lost at the edges of images.
	Recommendation :	Suitable for photos showing marked distortion.
	Type :	Partial, affects only geometry.
No correction	Description :	Disables all corrections (for a RAW file, this preset converts the image using the camera's design settings).
	Recommendation :	For images you prefer to correct or enhance manually.
	Type :	Global.

The different types of DxO Presets

Each DxO Preset describes the effect it will have on an image when processed.

Most DxO Presets can be used with either JPEG or RAW formats.
However, certain DxO Presets affect only RAW images, and these are indicated as “RAW only” in the DxO Preset namespace.
There are two basic categories of DxO Preset, comprehensive and specialized:

• A “comprehensive” preset corrects for all image parameters—that is, if you apply this kind of DxO preset, all previous settings will be ignored.
• A “specialized” preset deals only with specified attributes or parameters. For example, the “General – vivid colors” preset leaves all other settings (optical corrections, denoising, sharpness, etc.) unchanged, and affects only color saturation.
