as shot

with DxO

Whenever I go out to shoot with very specific goals, more often than not the lighting, weather or subject won’t cooperate and I come away totally frustrated. Frequently though, other opportunities will present themselves.  I think it’s really important not to be too focused on specific subjects, but to remain open and ready for whatever opportunities may happen along.

Such was the case with this shot. Completely by chance, I spotted this dedicated trio enjoying ideal conditions at dawn’s first light.  As a photographer friend once wisely advised me, “The secret to photography is simply to show up”.

As you can see, the original was a little drab, but processing with DxO brought it alive, especially in the curtain of spray, which so beautifully reflects the dawn’s first light.  The DxO lighting engine was magical here.
