Mark Alberhasky

Describing a niche for Mark's work is difficult. Describing his trademark style is not. Strong graphic design and bold use of color are the common theme in his images, and the reason his work has caught the eye of clients such as Nikon, Lowepro, Hewlett-Packard, magazine editors, galleries and collectors. His work is as diverse as it is unique. A passion for special light drives his style and his subjects range from travel to actions sports, iconic advertising images to custom theme photo illustration.

In 2004 he became a contributing photographer for Nikon, was featured in Nikon World Magazine (Spring 2005).  He shoots for Nikon advertising, as well as their website.  In 2005 his work was among those selected from worldwide entries in the 2nd annual competition by Smithsonian Magazine.  His medical images were awarded 2nd place in the 2005 International Photography Awards competition.  He is sponsored by Lowepro, and was among 12 world class photographers chosen to appear in their 2006 corporate calendar.  In 2006 Mark was invited to speak at England's Focus On Imaging, as well as Photokina, where inspirational presentations on his unlikely career touched audiences.

Whether hanging backwards out of a race car at speed, hovering inches from a surgical field in the operating room, or chest deep in water chasing a windsurfer, he finds unique combinations of subject and light. His enthusiasm for digital technique also includes instruction, and Mark is a Nikon Mentor for the American PHOTO Mentor Series. If all this sounds like something you'd read in a "how to" book, you'd be right.  An author who caught wind of Mark's evolving career was so struck by his passion and success that Mark's story is subject matter in an upcoming book on re-inventing yourself in the arts.
