DxO AFSU - Continuous focus
Fast and accurate auto-focus is the key to creating high quality videos and photos. This means capturing the right moment with the right focus at the right time. For still images, the major challenge remains shutter lag: the time difference between the moment the button is pressed and when the picture is actually taken. For shooting videos, continuous in-focus is a must to avoid visible oscillations between sharp and blurry frames.
The major problem in addressing these challenges has always been the time difference between the moment the button is pressed and when the picture is actually taken, usually referred as shutter lag. This delay results from a number of parameters, including the time needed for the actuator to focus the lens.
