A professional photographer specializing in weddings, Andrea Bagnasco discovered his interest in traditional photography while a teenager. After receiving his engineering degree and enjoying a brilliant start to a career in business, he returned to his original passion and decided to make it his profession. Adept at visual art and fascinated by the work of documentary and “on the street”-style photographers, Bagnasco’s own photographic style reflects his acute sense of observation and his taste for storytelling.
Andrea Bagnasco’s approach to wedding photography is rooted in his goal of recounting the event in all its authenticity. He discreetly documents his subjects through images that are both vivid and emotionally charged. His desire to preserve the moment without changing the ephemeral universe in front of his lens results in compositions that are aesthetically pleasing as well as narrative in nature.
Inspired by the practices of leading documentary photographers and drawing from the teachings of Cartier-Bresson, he makes use of the ambient light and plans his images by close observation of lighting conditions, careful composition, and precise timing in order to optimally capture special moments.
This approach, coupled with his proven photographic skills, allows Bagnasco to focus his attention on the events and the people, and to adapt to the technical constraints that a wedding presents to a photographer — changes in weather and scheduled sequences, dark interiors, mixed lighting, etc.
Andrea Bagnasco and DxO Labs products
Andrea Bagnasco pays particular attention to the post-processing of his images. He appreciates DxO Optics Pro’s performance in processing his original files, notably its powerful optical correction tools — particularly useful when using wide-angle lenses — along with noise reduction and white balance. DxO FilmPack plug-in allows him to give a unique signature to his images.
Andrea Bagnasco is based in Varazze, on the Ligurian coast in northern Italy.
